eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM that is built into newer smartphones, including the iPhone. It allows you to activate a cellular plan without the need for a physical SIM card. Setting up an eSIM on your iPhone can be a convenient way to switch between multiple cellular plans or to use a local data plan when traveling abroad.

Here are the steps to set up an eSIM on your iPhone:

1. Check if your carrier supports eSIM

Not all carriers support eSIM, so you'll need to check with your carrier first to make sure it's available. You can do this by contacting your carrier or by visiting their website.

2. Get the eSIM activation code

Your carrier will provide you with an eSIM activation code, which you'll need to set up the eSIM on your iPhone.

3. Add the eSIM

Open the Settings app on your iPhone and select "Cellular." Then select "Add Cellular Plan" and scan the QR code or enter the activation code provided by your carrier.

4. Confirm the eSIM

Once you've added the eSIM, you'll need to confirm it. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm your cellular plan and complete the setup process.

5. Set a default line (optional)

If you have multiple cellular plans, you can set a default line for voice, data, and messaging.

6. Switch between eSIM

To switch between eSIM, go to the Settings app and select "Cellular." Then select the cellular plan you want to use as your default line.

It's important to note that not all iPhone models support eSIM, so be sure to check if your device is compatible before attempting to set up an eSIM. Additionally, some carriers may charge a fee for activating an eSIM, so check with your carrier for any associated costs.
